You Had Me At "Knights In White Satin".

This version is named Trippy Animation with obvious good reason. Unfortunately, this YouTube presentation isn't the artists post. So, the freaky cover of The Moody Blues "Knights in White Satin" isn't the music that the animation was originally put to. Fortunately, credit was made to the rightful artist and I did more digging. The artist is Anthony Francisco Schepperd. From what I can gather, he was commissioned by Ninjatune Records to create this music video for a song called "The Music Scene" by Blockhead.  Although, my interest was peaked by the cover of Knights in White Satin done by Zed's Dead , I did wonder through the animation why it wasn't quite perfectly synchronized. It was pretty close, and I spent a lot of time pre-occupied with the animation itself, but once you see the animation in its originally intended purpose as a music video for Blockhead, the sync is very well choreographed.

Very Inventive

At first glance, I thought this was just a massive and random animation of text blazing around the screen. I observed it for a little bit while listening to the catchy tune that plays along with it. Then suddenly, ... Well I don't want to spoil it for you.
This reminds me a lot of David Carson's work with text. If he were to work in the digital animation realm, I'm sure he would be right along these lines. He probably had some influence on the creator of this animation. the overlapping text in an apparent hap-hazard chaotic placement that actually makes sense when you observe it in a certain way. I think it is playful, creative, and ingenious. I don't know that I will ever be able to accomplish anything this inventive.

French Student Made Animated Short

This animated short is very well done. It was done by art school students in France. The story-line is fantastic, but the crisp animation is amazing as well. I have always liked this look in animation. To me, this is what animation  looks like. It appears cartoonistic, and somewhat realistic at the same time. It has a definite feel of vector art, being clean, clear, and crisp.

I Just Have to Post This One

Sometime this week I watched Limitless.  The movie drew me in by the amazing title sequence. The movie is a trip inside the perils of a new wonder drug that stimulates the minds unused areas resulting in super-human achievement mentally. The main character goes from loser struggling book author who can't break through his writer's block, to Wall Street super star. It is a very cool movie. See it if you haven't. I found it streaming on Netflix.

Have You Ever Had One of These Days?

This Is Your Life

Again, a great find via StumbleUpon.com.  I don't know where it has been all my life.  The hand sketched appearance looks like it must have actually been hand drawn. I believe the artist then scanned the sketches in and separated them into individual pieces, reassembled them into an animation. This animator has an incredible sense of humor. If you look at the screenshot above long enough, I'm sure you can tell what is happening. I won't blow it for you before you see it.

The artwork has an incredible hand drawn quality to it. The story lines are hilarious and so easy to relate to.  The timing on each animation sequence is maybe not quite perfect, but very well done.  We've all had days that made you feel like you were just running in a hamster wheel.
